Our daily, weekly, yearly schedule is designed to focus on our core subjects, allowing ample time after school, one day during the school week and several weeks throughout the school year for students to pursue their interests on their own, with their families and their communities.

However when there are shared interests among the students around certain extracurricular activities, our dynamic partnership between students, families, local and global community and expert teachers as guides, students have the freedom to explore, collaborate, create and become constructive citizens, prepared for their time and place.

Sports, clubs and other extra-curriculars emerge from this partnership, according to the interests and talents the students choose to pursue.

Additionally, with our community partnership model, many activities traditionally seen as extra-curricular are built into the school day; community service, internships, work, STEM, arts.

Colossal Academy Jacksonville was founded based on the concerns from universities, employers, parents, and students themselves, being unprepared for the responsibility, resilience, leadership, communication, skills, time management, skills, and ability to work collaboratively required to thrive after high school. Our entire curriculum, format, methodology, is designed to graduate students not just to get into college. But to thrive in college, career and in life as confident resilient leaders able to think critically adapt to change, negotiate, work, collaboratively, and independently.

Beginning with the end in mind.

Through the unique, personalized learning design of Colossal Academy Jacksonville, students begin designing their path to graduation and beyond, before they even enter the classroom.

College application prep will begin in all students’ first year, with the goal setting as well as visits from admissions officers and college counselors so students can see their path to college acceptance from the start and set their goals accordingly.

Students will continue to be supported and guided through the college application process as students advance through high school, with opportunities for SAT/ACT prep, essay writing etc. And because of the individualized focus, as students’ interests, circumstances and goals change, so can their plan.
